Services
It is the policy of the management to provide as full a complement of services as possible to meet the needs of all residents. Total Care, while an individual is a resident in our facility, is monitored and based upon orders and directives from the resident's physician. The facility has written working agreements for the consultation services for Dietician, Occupational, Speech, and Physical Therapists.

Nursing
A resident's comfort, safety, health, and happiness are our basic concerns and are our reason for being here

All nursing care is carried out under signed orders by the attending physician. All shifts are covered by licensed nursing personnel who carry out the resident's plan of care, treatments, procedures and administration of medication. Nurse Aides are all certified and will provide assistance with bathing, dressing, eating and ambulation on a daily basis according to each resident's needs.

Activities
Keeping residents active, mentally and socially, is one of our main goals.

The activity program at Garden View is designed to meet the needs and interests of each resident and to assist them in continuing to function at the highest possible level, within limitations set by the resident's physician. It includes both individual and group activities. Educational discussion groups, exercise opportunities, activities with Daycares and Community School, large group social events and music therapy programs are available to residents. Weekly bingo, crafts, church services, games and Bible studies are also provided. Shopping trips are scheduled as well as outings of interest to surrounding communities. Transportation is available for both ambulatory and non-ambulatory residents.

Rehabilitation
The goal of our Rehab. Department is to improve each resident's quality of life by restoring or maintaining their highest functioning activity level

Each resident has a plan of care determined by a consulting Physical Therapist.   This plan is followed by our Rehab Department which is staffed by an LPN and two CNA's that have been specially trained for the therapy department.  They assist residents with performing exercises to strengthen arms and legs and to move painful joints more easily.   They also assist residents with ambulation and adaptive equipment.

Dietary
Meals are an important part of our total care program.

Our kitchen is staffed and equipped to provide any therapeutic diet ordered by the physician. Meals are an important part of our total care program. We employ a Consulting Dietician who is in our facility weekly to assure adequate, balanced and tasty meals. We encourage all residents to eat in the dining areas. Meal time is a social time, so the dinning room eating arrangement provides an opportunity to socialize.

Social Services
Garden View is one of few long term care facilities in the state
with a full-time licensed Social Worker on staff.

The Social Services Department helps residents with problems, from financial concerns and adjustment difficulties to emotional support. It sees to it that all necessary papers for admission are signed. It is the place to turn for residents and family alike. The department also assists in discharge and long-range planning for the continuing health care needs of each resident after discharge. Garden View is one of the few long-term care facilities in Iowa that has a full-time licensed Social Worker on staff.

Housekeeping/Laundry

Our Housekeeping Department works seven days a week where each room and common area is cleaned daily. We are proud of our housekeeping as you won't find any lingering odors at Garden View. Laundry services are also available seven days a week. Laundry care for personal clothing, that are wash and wear, are included in the daily rate. All bedding and towels are provided.

Skilled Care

In general, qualifications for skilled care require a 3 overnight stay in the hospital and that you require the service of a therapist or have other skilled nursing requirements.  Medicare could pay up to 100 days; the first 20 days paying 100% and the balance of the 80 days at 80%, as long as the resident meets qualifying standards. Supplemental insurance called MediGap Insurance could pay the balance of the 80%.
The regulations are much too complicated to explain here but if you have questions, please call.
